Taking Notes
by: Joana Cainglet and Hanna Hyland
Alyssa Garcia, junior music industry and recording arts major at Drexel University, started taking piano lessons at 11-years-old. After winning a songwriting competition when she was 13 years old, Garcia was brought to a recording studio to claim her prize and record the song she wrote. From that moment on, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in music production and songwriting.
Music was an outlet where Alyssa can express her emotions and connect with others. Through the pandemic, Garcia struggled with writer’s block and often found herself comparing her success to others. She tries to connect with her listeners through every song she writes. Her goal is to remind them that they are not alone. Garcia hopes her music can help her audience deal with their own difficulties. Her mantra is “music is the cure” and has held on to that through every high and low.
Garcia is dedicated to follow her passion. She had two songs in a featured film that premiered nationwide and had her songs placed in television shows. Alyssa hopes to continue writing music and to work with other artists as a full-time career.
